Dr. Richard F. Beatty is a board-certified and fellowship-trained ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in cornea and external eye diseases, uveitis, and refractive surgery.  He joins Ginsberg Eye with over 45 years of experience helping patients with all their eye concerns.

Dr. Beatty obtained his undergraduate degree from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA. He then received his medical degree from Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University at Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After medical school, he completed an internship at Montefiore Hospital /University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA.

He went on to complete a residency in Ophthalmology at the Albany Medical Center at Union University in Albany, NY.

He completed two fellowship trainings. The first one was with Project Orbis (International Ophthalmology) of St. Louis University and New York (Headquarters), working in Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Nepal, and China. He then completed a Corneal and External Diseases Fellowship at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California.

Over the years, he’s been published in various research and medical journals, including the American Journal of Ophthalmology. He has done numerous presentations on the latest advancements in eye surgeries and eye disorders.

Dr. Beatty has cared for patients as an ophthalmologist in private practice in Denver, Colorado, and as an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado.  He practiced at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida and recently retired from Physicians Regional Medical Group.

Outside of ophthalmology, Dr. Beatty is an avid tennis player and a fly fisherman.
